Oregon Webfoots vintage 1960’s bobble head nodder bobbing head doll! The University of Oregon was nicknamed the Webfoots in the 1950’s and early 1960’s before being called the Oregon Ducks. Not your current day, run of the mill, mass produced bobblehead. These from the 1960’s were hand painted, many were hand molded. Produced in very limited supply. Made of composite papier mache’ material. You don’t find these mint too often, as they will show wear from time. Never retouched by me. I bought them in the used shape they are and treasured these babies. Distributed by Sports Specialties, which handled many of the early nodders. Wait for invoice before paying. Some wear around base of head/neck. Minor paint loss on lettering. Especially USA to Canada.. Minor wear as shown in photo. I tend to underestimate the condition. NOT mint, but great shape. The light/bright & shaded spots shown in photos are NOT on the guide, just from the flash on my digi camera. Only one I ever lost was last January to the postal bozos who crushed the box and nodder.. Nothing I can do to speed things up so be patient please. Oregon teams were originally known as Webfoots, possibly as early as the 1890s. Although now known as the Ducks, the team was commonly called the Webfoots. The Webfoots name originally applied to a group of fishermen from the coast of Massachusetts who had been heroes during the American Revolutionary War; their descendants had settled in Oregon’s Willamette Valley in the 19th century and the name stayed with them. A naming contest in 1926 won by Oregonian sports editor L. Gregorymade the Webfoots name official. These are 100% original items. Normal wear as shown. Close-up photos show the dust particles. NOT mint (far from Mint) but in nice shape. I tend to underestimate the condition. Canada Post is at a turtle’s pace… Nothing I can do to speed things up. So be patient please.
