He came in a large group of other nodding cats doing different activities (last picture is a group shot of the collection of nodding cats I will be listing, plus a few other miscellaneous Heyde figures). Heyde started in the 1870’s and produced a large line of metal toy soldier sets, inkwells, banks, desk items, and novelty figures. They did not make it out of WW2. For good source material look for the three out of print books that cover Heyde’s work: Mit Heyde Figuren um Die Welt. Old German Toy Soldiers. (military, civilian, zoo figure sets). There’s also an excellent essay on Heyde by Gisbert Freber (as well as good overall coverage of the maker) in the book. The History of Toy Soldiers. If you pay by 5:00 E. While toys can’t.
