This listing is for the North Carolina Tarheel BASKETBALL PLAYER, Mascot head bobbin head, also known as nodders. This guy is nice condition, and made in the late sixties or early seventies. He’s very beautiful and extremely well done, as he is a creation of someone. There was never an original North Carolina Tarheel basketball player done in this type and therefor he is one of a kind. They did a marvelous job and I could only wish that I was this talented. How nice that would be! Congrats to someone out there. He stands a full seven and one half inches and is quite a handsome looking piece. He was repaired and repainted and the crack was on his right side. I didn’t even see it until my flash hit it. He’ll display nicely and he’s cheap. I have 3 different nodders, just like this guy, that someone marvelously created by hand. He’s colorful, beautiful, will display nicely and will be a nice conversation piece. He does NOT have a box. I guarantee him to be restored, repainted, refurbished. A lot of two ceramic bobble heads of Ben Casey, MD (Vincent Edwards) and Dr. Kildare (Richard Chamberlain), who were stars of their own television shows in the Sixties. Both stand 6½ tall and were made in Japan. Ben Casey was issued by Bing Crosby Productions , and comes in his original box, while Dr. Kildare was issued by Metro Goldwyn Mayer Productions and comes in a replacement box. This listing is for a Gem Mint St. Louis Cardinal, baseball, with ball, MINI Bobbin Head/Nodder from 1962. They are available in two versions, one with a bat and one with a ball. His colors are bright and beautiful, he’s got the gorgeous Cardinal Bird Mascot Head. My friend Marty said this is the most beautiful nodder ever made and he especially likes it when they have all their feathers in a row. I never knew what that meant but I liked it nonetheless. The stumbling block on these guys are, once again, are the two decals and the back of his feathers on his head. For some reason the feathers always seem to be chipped. Well these two decals are perfect and securely fastened and in no need of any assistance and his feathers are also flawless and unmarked. This is easily the nicest Cardinal I’ve ever seen. Perhaps Marty was right, this may be the most beautiful of all the nodders. It always bugged me that the Cardinals eyes, on the larger nodder, look in slightly different directions. I never knew when he was looking at me. But that’s not the case with the mini Card. His eyes are actually looking in the same direction. It’s a once in a lifetime, he’s sixty years old and looks as good as new. This one does not have a box. But as I said, this guy is gem mint, no flaws or cracks, nothing wrong anywhere. I only have one of these guys, won’t ever see another this nice. I guarantee this doll to have never been repaired or repainted whatsoever and absolutely 100% original. Back then they were only a buck or two and my Mother would allow me to pick one out every time we went to the Ephrata Children’s Boy Store for school clothing. They had an entire wall of them. I took painstaking care of these little guys even then. I even hid this fact from my friends for fear of them making fun of me for playing with dolls. I gently stuffed newspaper in their heads because even then, I was indeed smarter then the average bear, and he’s actually quite intelligent, so they say. I did however, carefully write the number 43 on the back of one of my several Phillie bobbin heads. He is still lovingly known today as the “Wes Covington” edition, and he’s quite limited, I’ll have you know. So each and everyone of these guys turned out negative on my black light test. They look beautiful, as advertised, but when subjected to your little black light test, BOOM, there it is. Without the aid of that black light, I couldn’t tell which of my Black Faced Phillies had been restored. They are both beautiful, and shiney, and mint, and have vibrant colors. But when the black light hits it, there are your spots of color that someone painted on. And you know what? They belong to you. You may certainly fix them up, paint them up, cover up a nick, scratch, pin hole, whatever, to your own choosing and preference. Feel free to do whatever you like. But the problem now lies, if and when you should decide to sell them. Because now you have an obligation to at least share this. It works both ways. I don’t mind owning and displaying mint nodders in my personal collection that have been professionally restored. Don’t mind it one little bit. But it’s far easier for me to sell the mint ones that have NEVER been restored. That’s what I specialize in. Yes they’re very expensive, I don’t deny that. That’s why I have them. The rest of the dealers aren’t willing to pay as much as I do. But what I have is MINT and I have a ton of them. So perhaps I’ll list those for a while and take a break from the GEM MINT items. Regardless, get yourself a black light please, you’ll be an expert in no time and you’ll be glad that you did. I would never ever be without mine again. They even sell blacklight flashlights. If you’re a nodder collector, this is an absolute must for your own satisfaction as well as protection. It’s simply too easy. Very Rare Composition MONKEY Nodder/Bobble Head -F. This very scarce composition MONKEY nodder was likely made in Germany. On the base is its original F. Price tag for 49 cents. In spite of its age and paint loss, this old bobble-head retains remarkable charm and character. The hand-painted eyes are expressive and the many molded details of his body and outfit stand out in sharp relief. Our antique and vintage Nodder research identified only a handful of old Monkey-themed nodders, none of which matched the design of this one. We also found few examples where the base and body were molded of the same material as this is. Comical hat and blue/green bow tie; crossed arms; long finger nails; smiling red mouth; tail; lines depicting fur patterns and its multi-dimensional raised facial features. CONDITION (as stated above). Signs of age and use include faded paint, paint loss and light scratches. There is one very small hairline crack at the center of the base. There is a crack extending from his lower lip to the hollow of his head and another on the back of the head which appears to have been injected with glue to prevent further damage. Two hairline cracks on the back of his head are visible under close scrutiny. The spiral wire has been glued in place. Height: 5.5 /.
