Vintage Pair of Signed 12 Japanese Kokeshi Wood Dolls 1930’s Bobble Heads Rare
Rare Vintage Japanese Kokeshi Dolls. For sale is an absolutely magnificent pair of early Japanese kokeshi dolls that are in very good condition. These dolls are nice and large, measuring approximately 12 inches tall. The female doll is signed with Japanese characters on the back, but I haven’t looked into who the artist may be. If you know the signature please let me know! The dolls are all hand carved and painted, and these are the most impressive kokeshi dolls I have ever seen! The heads can move back and forth when touching them, and they can spin all the way around, but they also lay still when untouched. I believe these are very early kokeshi dolls, likely from the 1930’s before the second world war. As for condition, the male doll is in excellent condition with light wear from age, and the female doll is in great shape as well but there is discoloration and fading to the red colored paint just from old age as well.
