The details of the painting are simply incredible in color, form, and subject matter. It looks like a Kokeshi figure originated in northern Japan where these were made as souvenirs for the tourists who frequented the onsens or hot bath spas. It is in good shape with its paper label torn on bottom. It is made of some clay or other material not sure. There is some paint loss near neck and shoulders. It is painted beautifully and very fragile thus why it is so rare to survive since I haven’t seen another one. Please see PICs and let me know if you have any questions.
